About the event
In traditional Japanese culture, there is a practice of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. (KIN=gold; TSUGI=put together) and is rooted in the belief that in embracing human flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Japanese believe that every break is unique, and so, instead of repairing an item like new, in this practice of repair, each “scar” is actually highlighted as a part of the design.
This Broken Bowl event is based on that 400-year-old Japanese tradition. You will receive a bowl to fix with gold and take home with you. This event will include gentle yoga movements and guided contemplation as well as the art practice in breaking and fixing your own bowl.
Cost is $25.00 General Admission (or monthly members $20.00)
